Hyundai has announced the name of its all-new entry-level SUV: Venue.

Venue is a peculiar moniker that seems at odds with the approach of naming SUVs after cities or places in the United States (Kona, Tucson and Santa Fe).

According to the short press release, “the new entry SUV name references a ‘place’ where people want to be seen, or in this case, inside the vehicle. The Venue symbolises a trendy, unique style, perfect for Hyundai’s newest and smallest SUV.”

The 2020 Hyundai Venue is scheduled to be revealed in the metal at the New York motor show on April 17.

Locally, the Venue is a confirmed started for Australia and will launch in the second half of 2019.
