Local specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz V-Class range which now kicks off at $79,627 plus on-road costs.

Exterior changes are minimal, there’s a newly designed bumper with restyled air intakes. Buyers can option an AMG Line package that adds a new diamond radiator grille with chrome pins for extra bling.

Three new metallic paint colours - graphite grey, selenite grey and hyazinth red - and two new light-alloy wheel designs in 17-inch for the V220d and 18-inch for the V250d round out the updates to the outside.

The cabin has been dressed up with new trim elements, redesigned air vents and a new optional leather colour called Tartufo.

Luxury seats with fully reclining function, back massage and climate-control are also available as an option.

The updated V-Class gets a raft of new safety tech including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection and active brake assist. The V250d also features Highbeam Assist Plus, which automatically switches between high and low-beam, the tech can be optioned on the entry variant.

Both models use a 2.1-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine tuned to produce 120kW and 230Nm in the V220d, while the V250d gets more grunt with outputs of 140kW and 440Nm. Regardless of the tune, the oiler is matched to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
