Nissan has revealed the new 2020 GT-R Nismo at the New York motor show, the range-topping GT-R is set to arrive locally in the second half of 2019.

For 2020, engineers have looked to further cut weight, increase downforce and improve aerodynamics.

Differentiating the Nismo from the ‘standard’ car is 20-inch RAYS forged alloy wheels wrapped in newly designed Dunlop tyres, a titanium exhaust with blue burnt tips, GT-3 derived front fenders with scalloped vents and a host of carbon-fibre parts including the front and rear bumpers, bonnet, roof, side sill covers, boot and rear spoiler.

As a result of the changes, the car is now 30.5kg lighter than the outgoing model.

Brembo carbon ceramic brakes are given a run for the first time, the discs measure 410 mm up front and 390 mm at the rear, with six-piston Brembo calipers. According to the press release, “when paired with the new material of the brake pads, they generate more friction for an enhanced controlled feeling in all types of braking situations.”

The suspension calibration has been revised and there’s a new ‘R’ driving mode for those wanting to take it to the max!

The 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine is carried over, it’s good for 447kW of power and 652Nm of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends drive to all four wheels.

On the inside, exclusive GT-R Nismo front seats are included as standard, Nissan says they “are designed to focus on holding the shoulder blades and lower body points, giving the driver a better sense of car and body as one.”
