Specs and pricing have been announced for the 2020 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR ahead of its July arrival.

The final hurrah for the Mk7.5 Golf GTI range will be limited to 300 units priced from $51,490 plus on-road costs.

Power comes from a 213kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine matched to a six-speed wet-clutch DSG transmission.

The GTI TCR's estimated 0-100km/h time is 5.7 seconds – 0.6 faster than the GTI 40 Years with DSG transmission and within one second of the Golf R DSG hatch's 4.8 seconds.

On top of the GTI’s specification sheet, the TCR adds a bespoke adaptive chassis control, a performance front brake system, a 5mm lower ride height, and a freer-flowing exhaust system that offers a distinctive note.

Further equipment highlights include 19-inch alloy wheels, black mirror covers, honeycomb TCR decals, a gloss black roof, LED headlights with dynamic cornering lights and dynamic light assist.

The GTI TCR is available in the Pure White, Tornado Red and the new Pure Grey.

On the inside, the TCR features sports seats trimmed in a cloth/microfleece mix, a sports steering wheel with perforated leather and red 12 o'clock marker, Alcantra gearshift lever and door trim inserts, and red trim on the seat belts and floor mats.

The only option for buyers to consider is a glass panoramic sunroof which costs $1900.
