Details of the all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L have been released in the US ahead of a potential Australian launch late this year.

As part of the new-generation Grand Cherokee range, the L version will be available in six- or seven-seat configurations across three rows for the first time.

The brand claims the all-new architecture and sculpted aerodynamic body style combine to improve vehicle performance, safety and reliability as well as reducing vehicle weight, noise, vibration and harshness.

Design features of the Grand Cherokee L include a longer hood and cab, forward-tipped grille with large and wider seven-slots, new slim LED headlights, new front fascia and a lowered, tapered roof, just to mention a few.

Equipped with comprehensive off-road tech, the Grand Cherokee L features 4x4 systems (Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II), Quadra-Lift air suspension and Selec-Terrain traction management system.

Ground clearance will be improved over the outgoing model through the Quadra-lift system which can offer up to 277mm at its highest setting. There will also be a 36mm wider wheel track.

Internally, the new Grand Cherokee will include a digital rear-view mirror, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch infotainment display running the Uconnect 5 platform, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a heads-up display, 19-speaker sound system and up to twelve USB-A and USB-C power outlets.

The safety kit includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a reversing camera and a 360-degree camera.

A range of powertrains are expected, though specifics not confirmed. The US market will initially have the choice of a 216kW/350Nm 3.6-litre V6 or 266kW/530Nm 5.7-litre Hemi V8 petrol engine, both being paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Local specifications and pricing for the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L are expected closer to its arrival, which is expected towards the latter part of the year. Stay tuned!
