Lexus Australia has announced changes to the UX range for 2021 headlined by a $2055 reduction to the price of the entry-level UX200 Luxury.

 

To sharpen the price, Lexus has removed LED fog lamps, roof rails, parking support brake, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, keyless entry and DAB+ digital radio from the UX200 Luxury’s standard equipment list. Buyers still wanting these features can find them in the new $1980 Enhancement Pack 1.

 

Power in the base car continues to come from a 126kW/205Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

 

All other petrol variants have had price reductions from $75 to $325 compared with the equivalent outgoing model. The creation of the Enhancement Pack 1 has had a flow-on effect for the previous Enhancement Pack 1 and 2, which are now renumbered 2 and 3.

 

Lexus also claims to have tweaked the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), it now is said to provide a smoother drive when accelerating off the line and coming to a halt thanks to revised control of clutch oil pressure and recalibration of the integrated powertrain control electronics.

 

Comfort should also be better with additional sound-absorbing materials and the adoption of thicker insulation around key areas of the boot floor.

 

The luggage space has expanded with a lower deck height in UX 200 petrol variants releasing between approximately 50 and 90 litres - a total of 419 litres (17-inch wheels) and 424 litres (18-inch wheels).

 

UX250h variants can now hold 368 litres with the adoption of a double deck-tray adding between four litres (for UX250h F Sport and Sports Luxury 2WD) and 44 litres (for UX 250h Luxury 2WD). The 131kW 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain is also carried over.

 

Every UX also gets upgraded Road Sign Assist which can now detect school-zone speed signs, while the USB-A outlets in the second-row have been replaced with two USB-C ports.
