Maserati Australia has confirmed its new mid-engined MC20 supercar will be priced from $438,000 plus on-road costs when it reaches local showrooms.
Potential buyers should note the 2021 allocation is already spoken for with the first deliveries set to commence in the third quarter of next year.
Initially, the MC20 will be powered by Maserati’s all-new dry sump 3.0-litre twin-turbo Nettuno V6 that develops 463kW at 7500rpm and 730Nm between 3000 and 5500rpm.
The Nettuno V6 is the first engine to be fully developed and manufactured in-house by Maserati following a hiatus of more than 20 years.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a self-locking mechanical limited-slip differential. Buyers will be able to option an electronic differential.
In terms of performance, Maserati claims the MC20 can sprint from 0-100km/h in under 2.9 seconds and hit 200km/h within 8.8 seconds. The top speed is listed at 325km/h.
According to WLTP testing, fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 11.6L/100km.
Dimensionally, the MC20 measures in at 4669mm long, 1965mm wide and 1221mm high, with a 2700mm wheelbase. Thanks to the use of carbon-fibre, the car weighs 1500kg.
Externally, inspiration has been taken from the 2004’s MC12 and the brand’s historic racing identity. The headline act is the butterfly doors which Maserati says “are not only stunningly beautiful but also functional, as they improve the car’s ergonomics and enable optimal access to and from the cabin”.
Moving inside, the cabin adopts a driver-focussed layout with a 10.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, a carbon fibre-clad central console, a wireless smartphone charger, and a drive mode selector.
The MC20 will also get the new Maserati Connect program which offers connected navigation, Alexa and a Wifi hotspot. Owners will also have access to a smartphone app to monitor and manage vehicle functions remotely.
