Australian specs and pricing have been confirmed for the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class ahead of its arrival later this year.
At launch, the S-Class will be offered in S450 and long-wheelbase S450L guise with prices starting from $264,900 plus on-road costs.
Both variants are powered by a 270kW/500Nm 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine augmented by EQ Boost 48V mild-hybrid tech which can add 16kW and 250Nm when under load.
A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system. According to Mercedes, the S450 can sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.1 seconds.
Buyers opting for the S450L will enjoy more rear leg room thanks to a 110mm extended wheelbase.
As is the norm, the S-Class will debut plenty of new tech starting with an updated MBUX infotainment system. The central touchscreen is now a 12.3-inch vertically-oriented OLED unit. The system houses the car’s menus, climate controls and media functions.

The new S-Class will be available to order in March with deliveries set to commence in the second quarter of this year.
