Australian specs and pricing have been announced for the new all-electric Porsche Taycan ahead of showroom arrival in December.

At launch, Porsche will offer the Taycan in three model grades: Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S with prices starting at $191,000 plus on-road costs.

The mid-range Taycan Turbo is priced from $269,100 plus on-roads, while the range-topping Taycan Turbo S asks $339,100 before on-roads.

Dimensionally, the Taycan measures in at 4963mm long, 2144mm wide, and between 1378mm and 1381mm tall depending on grade. The wheelbase is 2900mm.

The Taycan 4S produces up to 390kW of power and 640Nm of torque thanks to a 79.2kWh Performance Battery. It’s also equipped with Porsche’s new two-speed transmission. With a fully charged battery, the claimed driving range is 365km.

Porsche says the 4S accelerates from a standing start to 100km/h in 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 250km/h.

Taycan 4S buyers will be able to option the Performance Battery Plus package which increases battery capacity to 93.4kWh resulting in higher outputs of 420kW and 650Nm while lifting the driving range to 414km. Pricing for the package is yet to be announced.

Stepping up to the Taycan Turbo sees the larger battery included as standard and the outputs jump to 500kW and 850Nm, it’s enough to sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h. The claimed driving range is 420km.

The flagship Taycan Turbo S offers 560kW and 1050Nm. It can run from 0-100km/h in only 2.8 seconds and gets a claimed range of 405km.

When it comes to charging, the Taycan is the first production vehicle with a system voltage of 800 volts, instead of the usual 400 volts found in many electric cars. This enables consistent high performance, reduces the charging time and decreases the weight and installation space of the cabling. It also boasts a maximum peak charging capacity of 270 kW (Performance battery Plus).

Australian delivered cars will come standard with the Mobile Charger Connect to provide intelligent charging functions as well as a Charging Cable (Mode 3) for use at AC public charging stations. For charging at 400-volt charging stations, a 150kW on-board DC-Charger is also standard.

Taycan owners will receive a complimentary three-year subscription to the Chargefox Ultra-Rapid DC charging network (up to 350kW), and complimentary charging at selected Chargefox-managed Fast DC charging sites (mostly 50kW).

For charging at home, Porsche will refer owners to JET Charge who can provide expert advice on home charging options.

All three Taycan variants come with a Porsche Charging Dock, a Mobile Charger Connect module, a charging cable for domestic sockets, two charging cables for industrial sockets and the Home Energy Manager to assist with the setup of efficient charging infrastructure at home.

Standard equipment across the range includes a surround-view camera, comfort access, lane change assist, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, front-seat ventilation, steering wheel heating, rear side airbags, electrically folding exterior mirrors, digital radio and privacy glass.

20-inch Taycan Sport Aero wheels, metallic paint, front seat heating, 14-way electric comfort seats, auto-dimming mirrors and a BOSE surround sound system are also included.
