Subaru Australia has announced a Forester 2.5i Sport variant will join the range in October priced from $41,990 plus on-road costs.

Slotting between the Premium and S variants, the Sport model is distinguished by 18-inch dark metallic alloy wheels, black fog light surrounds, a black grille surround, front, side and rear under guards with orange highlights, roof rails with orange inserts, Sport badging and an electric sunroof.

An exclusive Dark Blue exterior colour can also be optioned.

On the inside, changes include water repellent grey cloth trim, orange highlights on the air vents and shift panel, orange stitching, a piano black surround for rear armrest cup holders, a chrome look edge for power window switches, an internal rear gate LED lamp and a cargo room LED lamp.

The Forester Sport is powered by the 136kW/239Nm 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engine found across the range. It’s matched to a CVT automatic and AWD.

Range-wide Forester changes for 2021 include a revised headlight design with a darkened area around the main beam bulb and the Collision Detection Unlock function which unlocks the doors and tailgate in the event of a heavy collision.

All non-hybrid variants also get a bump in towing capacity up from 1500kg to 1800kg.
