Toyota Australia has confirmed the first 200 examples of the GR Yaris Rallye will be priced at $56,200 drive-away with deliveries set to begin in March 2021.

Following the sale of the first 200 cars, the price will revert to $54,500 plus on-road costs.

On top of the ‘regular’ GR Yaris, the track-focused Rallye variant gets circuit-tuned suspension, Torsen limited-slip differentials on the front and rear axles, 18-inch BBS forged alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S5 tyres, and red brake calipers.

The 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 200kW and 360Nm is carried over. It’s matched to a six-speed manual transmission that sends the torque to the GR-Four permanent all-wheel-drive system.

The AWD set-up uses slightly different gear ratios for the front and rear axles and allows for a theoretical range of front/rear torque balance from 100:0 (full front-wheel drive) to 0:100 (full rear-wheel drive). Toyota says the flexibility offers performance advantages over an on-demand system.

In normal mode, the base front/rear torque distribution is 60:40, sport mode moves to a 30:70 rear-biased torque split, while track mode employs a 50:50 spread.

Performance-wise, Toyota says the GR Yaris can sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds.

Originally, Toyota stated only 250 examples of the Rallye would be coming to Oz, however, the brand will not limit the number it offers locally.

Potential buyers should also note, every Australian-delivered Rallye will be finished in pearl white.
