Pricing has been confirmed for Toyota’s flagship HiLux Rogue and Rugged X variants ahead of a showroom arrival in November.

For 2021, the Rogue is priced from $68,990 plus on-road costs whilst the Rugged X is priced from $69,990 plus on-road costs.

Like the wider HiLux range, the Rogue and Rugged X are powered by the upgraded 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. There is no longer a manual option in the Rugged X.

The higher-powered diesel unit and the automatic transmission lifts the braked towing capacity to 3500kg (+300kg).

Additionally, the rear suspension has also been tweaked to improve unladen ride comfort as well as a new variable flow-control power-steering pump added to assist low-speed manoeuvres such as parking.

Further highlights include courtesy illumination for the exterior mirrors, a larger 8.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium JBL 9-speaker sound system, restyled instruments with blue pointers and a digital speed readout incorporated into the 4.2-inch driver information display.

A pictogram showing the angle of the front wheels, an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror, new ornamentation, blue illumination, enhanced voice recognition, black perforated leather-accented seats with grey outboard accents, heated front seats and an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat are included as standard.

Upgrades specific to the ‘work and play’ Rogue model includes a motorised roller cover for the tray, a vertical grille, dark 18-inch alloy wheels, a chrome tailgate badge, new tailgate and sports bar decals, marine-grade carpet tub liner plus the two front and four rear parking sensors.

The ‘off-road focused’ Rugged X includes rock rails, a hoopless bull bar, new grille design with 3D mesh, new bonnet, dark headlamps, jet-black 17-inch wheels and new decals on the bonnet and rear quarter panel.

Both models are equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense suite which includes a pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking and the ability to detect pedestrians around the clock and cyclists during the day. There is also high-speed active cruise control, lane-departure alert and steering assist.

Nine exterior paint colours will be available, three of which are new: Feverish Red, Satin Blue and Oxide Bronze.

At this stage, Toyota expects the HiLux Rogue and Rugged X to arrive in showrooms from late November.
