It has been revealed by Renault Australia and Alpine Cars that the 2018 Alpine A110 is destined for the Australian automotive market.

First established in 1955 the Alpine was produced and sold until 1995 developing a global fan base in the process. The Alpine was successful when it made history with the first World Rally Championship Title in 1973.

Régis Fricotté, International Sales Director of Alpine Cars, said; “We know that many people have been waiting for this car. In fact, when bookings opened in Europe, all 1,955 Premiere Edition cars were reserved within just a few days. We believe the A110 offers a unique proposition to the market and we expect a similar reaction from Australian sports car enthusiasts when the car is on sale.”

The new reincarnation, the A110, seeks to offer a modern yet recognisable Alpine reflective of the original A110 Berlinette, but with a modern design language, materials and technologies.

In terms of design, the A110 will feature four independent full LED DRLs while the bonnet’s central ‘spine’ will reflect the Alpine’s DNA. An aluminium platform and body will offer rigidity yet shed the kilos.

Power will come via a new 1.8-litre turbocharged engine capable of producing 185kW/320Nm which is reported to accelerate the car from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. A Getrag seven-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch gearbox completes the powertrain.

Three selectable driving modes – Normal, Sport and Track – will also be available to suit the driver’s mood.

The A110 will draw on its racing heritage with features such as a flat floor and functional diffuser under the rear bumper designed to reduce drag allowing the A110 to reach its top speed electronically limited to 250km/h.

Found inside the A110 will be a combination of minimalist, lightweight design elements and top quality material such as smooth natural-grain leather and carbon fibre.

Details released to whet the whistle of Australian buyers of the Alpine A110 include 18-inch Otto Fuchs forged aluminium wheels, Sabelt monocoque sport seats, a Brembo sports braking system with calipers incorporating integrated parking brake and dual-material brake discs with aluminium hub, active lightweight sports exhaust, Alpine-tuned Focal audio system, matte carbon fibre interior accents and brushed aluminium pedals.

Full Australian specifications will be released closer to the Alpine’s arrival.

Australia is only the second market outside of Europe, and one of three right-hand drive countries, that is confirmed to launch the Alpine A110 in 2018. Following the production run of special launch models, other variants will join the range.

Australian deliveries are expected around the second half of 2018. Pricing will also be confirmed closer to the arrival date but expected to be in the vicinity of $90,000 to $110,000 before on-road costs.

The Alpine A110 will be distributed by Renault Australia through select dealerships which will also be announced closer to arrival.
