British manufacturer Mini has revealed an extra special little car, the Classic Mini Electric, which combines the classic Mini look with EV technology. Forget reminiscing about the Italian Job, this version isn’t going into production.

With the teaser, Mini has tried to combine the new and the old with a dash of charisma, individual style and driving fun as the urban electro mobility landscape of the 21st century expands.

Announced back in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mini Electric Concept was the foundation for the production model which is set to be unveiled in 2019 to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the classic Mini.

Based on the Mini 3 Door, the fully electric production car, which is currently nearing production, will be produced at the Mini Plant in Oxford.

This is not Mini’s first endeavour into the electric world of cars though. Back in 2008 about 600 examples of the Mini E model were produced and tested under everyday conditions.

A Mini Cooper SE Countryman ALL4 Plug-In Hybrid model has also seen some success which combines an internal combustion engine with an electric drive and hybrid-specific all-wheel drive system.
