Honda Australia has posted its best new car sales result in a decade with 51,525 new vehicles finding new homes in 2018.

Finishing fourth in private sales and tenth overall among the top automotive brands in Australia, the biggest seller from the Honda line-up was the CR-V with 16,107 new vehicles sold. The CR-V line-up has also expanded to include seven grades with two seven-seat options and two all-wheel drive variants.

In silver place was the HR-V with a tally of 12,148 sales in 2018, which is the second highest sales year since launch in 2015 for the small SUV. August saw the HR-V get a mid-life upgrade with the RS grade added as well as new safety kit across the range.

Also delivering a strong sales performance was the Civic with combined sales totalling 13,470 for the sedan, hatch and Type R variants.

All in all the 2018 sales results represent a 10 per cent increase year-on-year for Honda which is a good result given the overall decline in the new car sales overall.
