Team D-Max has revealed the brilliant looking Isuzu Concept X D-Max and MU-X at the National 4x4 Outdoors Show in Melbourne.

The Concept X models are the embodiment of a hardcore off-road enthusiast’s wet dream. Team D-Max Lead Driver Jack Monkhouse said, “It was the tyres that got the project started.”

Both cars ride on Toyo Open Country 38 x 15.5R20 Mud Terrain tyres and get a seven-inch suspension lift which allows approach and departure of 50 degrees and 38 degrees respectively. The suspension package also includes 60mm remote reservoir shock absorbers.

Team D-Max is also claiming “ultimate stopping power” by utilising four-wheel disc brakes that comprise of six-piston callipers with 390mm full floating rotors at the front, and four-piston callipers with 355mm full floating rotors at the rear.

Impressively, the custom guards, bull bars, bonnet, brakes, suspension and chassis modifications were all done in-house.

Both cars feature front and rear winches, while the D-Max gets an alloy tray that has been carefully designed to securely stow four pressed steel diesel fuel cans and two full-size spares.

While engineers have tweaked the exhaust system, the 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine from the regular Isuzu range powers the Concept X models, the six-speed automatic transmission is also carried over.

Keep an eye out for the Concept X vehicles, they will be on display at a host of 4WD shows and other events around the country over the next year.
