If you thought technology was already taking over our lives it’s time to stop reading as Jaguar Land Rover has turned its attention to the humble steering wheel.

Affectionately known as Sayer, the clever, intelligent and connected steering wheel will make its debut at the Tech Fest at Central St Martins art, design and technology college in London.

Essentially the steering wheel will be more of a personal assistant and is the first voice-activated artificial intelligence (AI) steering wheel capable of performing more than the simple task of steering a vehicle.

Sayer will also be unique in the fact that it may be the only part of the car you need to own. It will work on the idea that, due to its connected nature, it will be able to summon a vehicle suited to your needs.

Part life planner, part transportation when needed the rest of the car will autonomously arrive at your door as arranged by Sayer, even making suggestions for sections of the trip that might be manually conquered.

Sayer will initially feature on the new Jaguar concept: Jaguar ‘FUTURE-TYPE’ which looks to explore the future.

Tech Fest is a Free-to-enter festival and exhibition is open to the public from Friday 8 September until Sunday 10 September in London.
