Kia has unveiled the new SP Concept vehicle at the AutoExpo 2018 in India.

Acting as a glimpse of what is to come for Indian motorists after retail sales begin in India in the latter half of 2019, the SP Concept is said to be proof of Kia’s claims to introduce cars designed for the Indian new car market.

Sporting a wide and stable stance, the new SP Concept is aimed at young Indian consumers who appreciate a combination of sophisticated beauty, advanced technology and high functionality with a sporty influence to boot.

As has been seen on many Kia cars, the ‘tiger nose’ grille has been included on the SP Concept. Other design elements include daytime running lamps with high-tech graphics and positioning lamps which lead to the inside of the new grille.

Internally Kia has aimed for an ‘advanced sensual style and dynamic sensibilities’ which complement high-tech elements and a modern cabin design aimed at young trend-setters.

Peter Schreyer, Chief Design Officer of Kia Motors Corporation, commented, “Over the last few years, SUVs have become the vehicle-of-choice among Indian buyers. Combining the comfort and space of a sedan with the ability to tackle all kinds of terrain, we intend to storm the market with an SUV that will set new parameters in motoring. It’s still a concept – so it’s a little bit exaggerated – but the actual production car will be very close to what you see here at AutoExpo 2018.”

The SP Concept was debuted alongside a cast of 16 of Kia’s global models.
