After 11 years of sales at home and abroad the curtain has finally closed on the Toyota Aurion as the last vehicle rolls off the line at the Altona manufacturing base.

Initially debuted in 2006 at the Melbourne International Motorshow, the Aurion was Toyota’s response to the demand for V6 family sedans. It enjoyed some success with over 110,000 sales in Australia since release.

At the time of its release, it was one of the most advanced and powerful family cars offered in the Toyota lineup featuring a 3.5-litre Quad Cam V6 developing 200kW of power at 6200rpm and 336Nm of torque at 4700rpm.

The final delivery of a Toyota Aurion, a high-grade white Presara, was taken by Melbourne-based Chadstone Toyota Dealer Principal Graeme Ward from the team who built the car.

Although the Aurion is no longer available, Australian buyers looking for a six-cylinder V6 can get their hands on the all-new Toyota Camry as it is set to feature a direct-injection system paired with an automatic eight-speed gearbox. It is set for release around November this year.

The last Aurion is only the start of the final vehicles to be produced as the Camry Hybrid will follow suit in September while the final Camry will leave the factory in October.
