Lexus is gearing up for a record 2019 with sales expected to be better than ever with the most comprehensive local portfolio in the marque’s history.

2018 saw 8819 new Lexus vehicles find a home which is the second-best result ever for the brand. December was a record month with 690 registrations, the highest result since 2005 for the month.

SUVs have been the driver of the brand’s growth with a 13.5 per cent increase in sales (6327 vehicles) across the all-new UX, NX, RX and LX models.

The most successful Lexus model is the NX SUV with 9.1 per cent growth and a record 3697 vehicles sold followed closely by the RX with 10.4 per cent growth and 2051 units sold.

Flagship LX models, which were bolstered by the introduction of the diesel-powered LX450d and the LX570 S, performed better than any other time in the last 15 years with a 24.7 per cent increase and 404 new vehicles sold.

Lexus chief executive Scott Thompson commented that sales growth in 2019 would benefit from the recent introduction of the updated Lexus RC coupe, as well as other introductions and special-edition models to be announced later.
