Owners of Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS purchased between 2 January 2017 and 1 April 2017 may find that their vehicle has a software fault.

The problem relates to the classification of the front passenger seat not functioning correctly which could result in an installed child seat being identified as a person, or a lightweight person being identified as a child seat.

Should the fault be present the front passenger airbag may be activated when the child seat is installed or not activating when a passenger is present. Both cases could result in injury in the event of an accident.

Owners will be contacted by direct mail and advised to visit their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership for an upgrade to the occupant classification software. VINs from affected vehicles may be found on the ACCC website.
