Mitsubishi Motors has confirmed that 200,000 units of the Outlander PHEV have been sold globally since it first launched in 2013.

The Outlander PHEV was the world’s first SUV to utilise plug-in hybrid technology and is currently available in more than 50 countries.

The car also lays claim to being the world’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle as at the end of December 2018, and Europe's best-selling PHEV for the past four years (2015-2018).

The Outlander PHEV uses a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a pair of 60kW electric motors. When fully charged, the car can run in EV mode for up to 54 kilometres.
