A new annual sales record has been established in 2018 by Mitsubishi Motors Australia with 84,944 vehicles sold according to official VFACTS figures.

Mitsubishi sales were strong in 2018 with a 5.3 per cent increase in the context of an overall market decline of 3 per cent. This result represents the fourth consecutive year of growth for the brand.

Mitsubishi’s best-selling model in Australia was the Triton ute with more than 24,000 units finding new driveways to call home, which is not surprising with the lifestyle vehicle epidemic currently sweeping the nation.

ASX and Outlander models also performed strongly with more than 19,000 and 15,000 sales respectively. The ASX also maintained a podium finish as the best-selling small SUV in 2018.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia, CEO, John Signoriello, commented on the current year’s expectations saying, “This year we predict the new car market to be subdued but we are looking forward to the new Triton sales commencing this month and we will have a number of special editions which we will be bringing to the market in the first quarter.”

“We will also have updates to the ASX, Outlander PHEV and Pajero Sport later this year to further strengthen our position in the key market growth segments.”
