Kia Motors are set to unveil their new all-electric concept car, the Niro, at the 2018 Consumer Electrics Show (CES).

Scheduled to make its world debut in Las Vegas on January 8, the concept car will be a move towards Kia’s vision for future mobility and new technology.

Representing another step in the electrification journey, the concept car will also debut the latest never-seen-before human-machine interface, dubbed HMI, and a new ‘motion graphic’ lighting system.

As well as revealing the new concept car, Kia will also unveil the latest range of interior features and innovations at 2018 CES.

Kia will present three interactive exhibits called ‘Beyond Autonomous Driving’ where existing and future technology will be displayed. The new autonomous driving technology will be a highlight of the presentation.

Each exhibit will have a cockpit-style which is designed to give a better sense of how the new technology will be incorporated, which are aimed at enhancing communication and interaction between the occupants and the vehicle. This includes new advanced driver assistance technologies, HMI functions and the world’s first 5G connection in a vehicle.

Dr. Woong-cheol Yang, Vice-Chairman and Head of Hyundai-Kia R&D Center, said,  “Virtual reality, self-driving cars, and full vehicle connectivity were all once considered technologies of the distant future. As they rapidly become a reality, Kia is exploring how to adapt these new technologies for its customers.”

Full details of the concept car and new technology are expected after the reveal on January 8.
