Nissan has confirmed its e-Power, electrified powertrain technology, will launch in European markets by 2022.

The e-Power system combines a 100 per cent electric motor drive with a petrol engine that charges a battery. This system provides instant, smooth acceleration as well as being fuel efficient.

Nissan has already experienced EV success with the Leaf already a best-selling electric car, e-Power will look to build on this achievement and will join a suite of new technologies set to be available within the next three years.

Roel de Vries, Corporate Vice President for Nissan Motor Company, commented: “With e-Power arriving on European roads within the next two years, we will bring the benefits of Nissan Intelligent Mobility to more customers and keep moving people to a better world.”

Featured on the IMQ concept, an all-wheel drive version of the e-Power is exhibited. A gasoline engine with a power generator, an inverter, a battery and an electric motor are all part of the system.

There is no word yet when we can expect e-Power technology to reach Australian showrooms.
