Peugeot Australia has bolstered the value of its line-up by adding autonomous emergency braking (AEB) as standard equipment across all models including the 208, 308, 2008 and 3008.

Pleasingly prices across the range have not been increased to fund the additional safety technology.

Depending on the model, the AEB tech uses either a windscreen mounted camera or radar and camera combination to determine the risk of a collision with a vehicle or pedestrian.

AEB activates if the driver fails to react in a timely manner by sounding an audible warning, then applying the brakes.

Commenting on the announcement, ANCAP Chief Executive, Mr James Goodwin said, "Autonomous emergency braking is a vital safety assist technology and Peugeot Australia is to be commended for this commitment to make AEB standard across its entire Australian model range.”

"Safety is not a luxury and having AEB as a standard offering provides enhanced safety to consumers," he added.

The incoming seven-seat 5008 SUV will also have AEB as standard on all variants.

While Peugeot hasn’t increased any prices, the entry-level 208 Active has had a $200 price drop, the small hatch now starts at $21,990 before on-road costs.
