Porsche Australia has announced it will offer an infotainment upgrade including Apple CarPlay to owners of classic models.

The Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) system has been revealed bringing the brand’s vintage and young classic cars into the digital age.

Developed in two variants, the PCCM is designed to fit seamlessly into the space the original units occupied, with 1-DIN or 2-DIN dimensions as was standard in sports cars for decades.

The first infotainment upgrade offers two rotary knobs, six integrated buttons and a touch-sensitive 3.5-inch display that blends into the dashboard with a black surface finish complementary to the classic Porsche interior. The unit also sports the Porsche logo.

Features gained from the upgrade include DAB+, Apple CarPlay and media playback via an SD card, USB, AUX and Bluetooth.

Porsche sports car generations between the first 911 models of the 1960s and the last 911 with air cooling from the start of the 1990s (type 993 model series) are the main targets of the PCCM with earlier front- and mid-engine models also capable of using the tech.

Owners of the 996 generation 911s and 986 Boxster models can opt for the 2-DIN Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) system, which features a high-resolution 7.0-inch touchscreen which also supports Android Auto.

The new Porsche Classic Communication Management is available from $2,643.10 and $2,968.33 for the PCCM Plus version (both costs excluding installation, assembly and additional parts) from Porsche Centres across Australia.
