Independent crash tester ANCAP has awarded the maximum five-star safety rating to the Renault Koleos two-wheel drive range.

The testing was carried out by Euro NCAP and comes stamped 2017 but applies to all front wheel drive Koleos variants sold from June 2018.

ANCAP notes the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system fitted to Australasian Koleos differs to the European models, and as such, has not been tested.

Across the board, the Koleos scored 84 per cent for adult occupant protection, 79 per cent for child occupant protection and 62 per cent for pedestrian detection.

Pleasingly, in both the side impact test and the pole test the Koleos scored maximum points.

Andrew Moore, Managing Director Renault Australia, commented: “Safety is a priority for Renault, and accordingly we have upgraded Koleos to include standard safety features like AEB and Lane Departure Warning to ensure a 5 star ANCAP safety rating.”
