After a series of annoying teasers, the Skoda Kodiaq RS has been revealed at the Paris motor show.

To legitimise the RS badge, the car is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel developing 176kW of power and 500Nm of torque, the latter is available between 1750 and 2500rpm. Skoda points out this is the most powerful diesel engine ever fitted to one of its cars.

A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to an on-demand all-wheel drive system.

It’s not as fast as we were expecting, Skoda quotes a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.0 seconds on the way to a top speed of 220km/h. The combined fuel consumption rating comes in at a competitive 6.0L/100km.

You’d be brave to complain about the design, the radiator grille, window frames, wing mirrors and roof rails are finished in gloss black, while the 20-inch Xtreme alloy wheels come in anthracite. Incidentally, the Kodiaq RS is the first Skoda to offer 20-inch wheels as standard.

Trainspotters will notice the Kodiaq RS features the new vRS logo which identifies the car as the youngest member of the RS family.

On the inside, the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster is standard, as is a black roof lining, stainless steel pedals, RS steering wheel and perforated Alcantara and carbon leather sports seats with red contrast stitching.

Disappointingly, at this stage, the Kodiaq RS isn’t coming to Australia. It’s currently designated for cold climate markets only.
