A variety of problems have prompted recalls from Mercedes-Benz, Holden, Volkswagen and Ford this week.

Starting with Mercedes-Benz, ML, GL, GLE and GLS vehicles sold between February 1, 2012, and August 31, 2016, may have oil foam develop in the system’s oil reservoir which could cause oil to escape through the ventilation bores in the cap of the reservoir. This oil could spray onto the hot components of the exhaust system and potentially cause a fire.

Mercedes-Benz is urging concerned customers to contact their nearest dealer to arrange an inspection and free repair if required. A list of VINs included in the recall can be found here.

Holden has updated their recall in relation to the faulty Takata airbag inflators. 2013 Trax, 2012-2013 Barina and 2010-2013 Cruise vehicles registered in Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory are the next bunch to be added to the recall, new VINs can be found here.

A free airbag inflator will be fitted free of charge with customers needing only to arrange for this to happen with their nearest dealer with replacement stock. Concerned customers can also check if their vehicle is affected by the recall at the IsMyAirBagSafe website.

Holden is also recalling a number of brand new 2018-2019 Holden Equinox vehicles which may be affected by the rear-brake caliper pistons having trapped hydrogen gas which could enter the brake system and potentially cause a crash.

Holden will be contacting known owners or a list of affected VINs can be found here.

Ford is recalling a number of Everest vehicles built between March 9, 2018, and March 13, 2018. The vehicles in question may have a faulty seat cushion frame which could result in noise, displacement or deformation of the seat cushion, irregular motion of the seat when adjusted or injury due to sharp edges.

Ford are contacting known owners of affected vehicles in writing and advising them to contact their nearest Ford dealership. A list of affected VINs can also be found here.

Finally, Volkswagen has two separate recalls out for 2018 Tiguan Allspace vehicles. The first is in relation to a potential problem with passenger airbags. In the event of an accident, the airbag may not deploy correctly due to being packed incorrectly when manufactured.

Affected VINs can be found here or owners can wait to be contacted by Volkswagen Group Australia if their vehicle is affected.

The second recall this week for the  2018 Tiguan Allspace is in relation to some vehicles having an incorrect weld on the lower securing eye of the gas-filler shock absorbers on the rear axle. The lower shock absorber attachment has the potential to come loose and potentially cause an accident. A list of affected VINs can also be found here.
