Volkswagen Australia has confirmed an Amarok V6 fitted with a six-speed manual transmission and low-range transfer case will be available in December.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, however, the Core V6 variant will use the familiar 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine tuned to produce 165kW (180kW on over boost) and 500Nm.

The drive is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. Those with something to pull should note, the Core has a 3000kg braked towing capacity.

Amarok Core models get four-wheel disc brakes, cloth seat trim, a vinyl floor, a rear-view camera and a 6.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with smartphone mirroring.

Aside from the new entry-level V6, Volkswagen confirmed the V6 Highline Black will be permanently added to the range.
