The revised 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, with a new design, technology and fast charging capabilities, has arrived in Australia.

The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has a strong list of new technology for increased convenience.

Firstly, available in both the LS and Exceed grades, Mitsubishi’s Smartphone Link with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. There is also Digital Radio (DAB+), electric folding and heated exterior mirrors, LED headlamps with auto levelling and a DC fast charging socket.

Another useful feature across the Outlander PHEV range is a new EV Priority Mode, which once activated and providing there is sufficient charge, will allow the vehicle to operate in EV mode without the engine starting.

In terms of ride quality, the new Outlander PHEV is geared towards a smoother and more responsive drive with attention given to addressing noise levels, ride, handling and throttle response. Internally increased structural rigidity in the body, revised suspension design and new Electric Power Steering calibration combine to help improve the ride quality and comfort of those within.

Adaptive four-wheel drive with twin electric motors driving the wheels is what makes the Outlander PHEV stand out from the crowd.

The ability to cover distance and strong economy are two areas often considered when looking at a PHEV. The 2017 Outlander PHEV claims to have increased range in pure EV mode to a maximum of 54km. It also claims to increase fuel economy by reducing usage to 1.7-litre per 100km based on the ADR 81/02 fuel economy cycle. A 2.0-litre petrol engine with seamless transition between three driving modes (EV, series hybrid and parallel hybrid) has been used.

On the outside the ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design features a dark chrome and silver plated grille, silver skid plate, LED headlamps, Day time Running Lamps (DRL) and fog lamps with a chrome bezel. There are also wheel arch mouldings, silver roof rails, chrome door sill garnish and new look 18-inch black and polished alloy wheels.

Interior aesthetics have also received an upgrade with a redesigned steering wheel, new accent trim, upgraded seating comfort with premium finishes and materials which should give the cabin a more refined feel.

Standard safety features on the Exceed grade also include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation with human detection, Multi Around Monitor, Auto High Beam, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and an Ultrasonic Mis-acceleration Mitigation System, all very useful to avoid an accident and assist the Outlander PHEV to achieve a maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is covered by the brand’s 5 year/100,000km warranty, a standard across the Mitsubishi range and four-year Capped Price Servicing, the internals are scheduled every 15,000km or 12 months, whichever comes first.

The new 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV should now be available from Mitsubishi dealers around Australia.
