Australian details have been announced for the 2018 Volkswagen Polo Beats, the additional variant is set to arrive in August with prices starting at $22,490 plus on-road costs for the manual version.

Boasting a bespoke 300-watt sound system designed specifically for Volkswagen by the Beats brand, which was founded by Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine is best known for its headphones. The Polo Beats will pack a punchy sound which Volkswagen is hoping will appeal to younger and younger-at-heart buyers.

It’s not all about the bass though. The Polo Beats uses a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 85kW/200Nm from the 85TSI Comfortline model and is mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmission.

Setting the Polo Beats apart from the rest of the line-up will be the inclusion of Volkswagen's second-generation 10.25-inch Active Info display in the instrument cluster.

The Polo Beats also features 16-inch Torsby alloy wheels, wireless phone charging, comfort sport front seats, front assist with autonomous braking and pedestrian monitoring as well as driver fatigue detection and low tyre pressure indicator.

Styling modifications for the Polo Beats include three classic hues including a no-cost red, optional white/silver metallic or a deep pearl black, a single bonnet stripe, ‘beats’ badging on the B-pillar, roof, bonnet and entry sill, black door mirrors as well as matte Velvet red decorative inserts on the dashboard, console and door.

An optional Driver Assistance Pack is also available for $1400 which adds adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor and park assist.

Please note: Volkswagen only supplied images of an overseas model.
