The 2019 Audi Q2 range has been trimmed with the brand axing the 2.0 TDI diesel-powered model.
 
Under Audi’s new naming protocols, the two remaining petrol models will be badged 35 TFSI design and 40 TFSI quattro sport.
 
The base model 35 TFSI design (from $41,950 plus on-roads) now gets LED headlights and tail-lights with dynamic indicators, DAB+ digital radio and wireless phone charging as standard.
 
17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, leather trim, a rear-view camera, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection and the 7.0-inch MMI Navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all carried over.
 
Powering the 35 TSI is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 110kW and 250Nm. It’s paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.
 
Audi claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 8.5 seconds with fuel consumption coming in at 5.3L/100km on the combined cycle.
 
Moving to the 40 TFSI quattro sport (from $49,400 plus on-roads) adds 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-trimmed sports seats, paddle shifters, a powered tailgate, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
 
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 140kW and 320Nm. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic sends drive to all four wheels.
 
According to Audi, the 40 TFSI takes 6.5 seconds to hit triple figures from a standstill. On the combined cycle the fuel consumption is rated at 6.5L/100km.
