The first examples of the 2019 Honda NSX have arrived Down Under priced from $420,000 plus on-road costs.

First revealed in August at Monterey, the updated NSX is here in time to complete Honda Australia’s 50th birthday celebrations.

This latest version of the NSX marks 30 years since the first-generation was born. It was a big deal at the time being the first mid-engined exotic from somewhere other than Europe.

The original offered a low slung, super light, high-revving machine sporting the world’s first all-aluminium monocoque, titanium connecting rods, a VTEC valvetrain and levels of quality and daily driving comfort unheard of in sports cars of the time.

“Before NSX, it was always assumed that supercar performance came at the price of a comfortable interior and everyday drivability,” said Jon Ikeda, Vice President and General Manager of the Acura Division of American Honda Co., Inc.

“NSX shattered those notions, and raised the bar on every other exotic and supercar maker, with the effects still felt today. NSX was a huge inspiration and one of the major reasons I was drawn to join Honda nearly 30 years ago.”

For 2019, Honda’s hybrid all-wheel drive system is carried over. Power comes from a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine paired with a trio of electric motors which produce 427kW of power and 646Nm of torque. A nine-speed dual-clutch transmission sends drive to all four corners.

To improve the driving experience, Honda has tweaked the chassis, recalibrated the car’s software and fitted Continental SportContact 6 tyres, which were developed exclusively for the NSX. A full breakdown of the changes under the skin can be found here.

These upgrades are in addition to the new body-colour, front grille garnish, high-gloss treatments for the front grille surround, front air intake mesh and rear bumper outlet mesh as well as the colour palette expanded internally with the addition of an optional Indigo blue semi-aniline leather and Alcantara theme.

Thermal Orange Pearl premium paint is available as an option, as is carbon ceramic metallic (CCM) brakes with orange callipers.

The 2019 Honda NSX is priced from $420,000 plus on-road costs and is available now.
