Mercedes-Benz has used the Bathurst 12-Hour race to announce local specifications and pricing for the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door range, AMG’s first dedicated four-door model is priced from $249,900 plus on-roads.
 
The range opens with the GT 53 4Matic+ which is powered by an inline six-cylinder engine with EQ Boost technology, it produces 320kW of power and 520Nm of torque and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive. Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.5 seconds.
 
Standard equipment includes the AMG Dynamic Plus driving mode package, AMG Ride Control+ suspension, Nappa leather upholstery, AMG Performance front seats (heated and cooled), a 14-speaker Burmester audio system, AMG Performance steering wheel trimmed in Nappa leather and Dinamica microfibre, AMG Track Pace software, wireless phone charging, Multibeam LED headlights, 20-inch AMG alloy wheels and yellow-painted AMG brake calipers.
 
Moving to the flagship GT 63 S 4Matic+ ($349,900 plus on-roads) adds a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 producing 470kW and 900Nm. It also uses a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. It’s obviously quicker taking just 3.2 seconds to hit 100km/h from a standstill.
 
Additional equipment includes rear-axle steering, an active dynamic engine mount, 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, AMG carbon-fibre trim and power-closing doors.
 
Both models get a comprehensive list of safety tech that includes autonomous emergency braking, active blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, active distance assist, lane change assist, steering assist, a 360-degree camera system and nine airbags.
 
Mercedes-AMG will offer a variety of options, buyers of the 53 4Matic+ can choose an AMG Exterior Chrome Package ($2500), AMG Exterior Carbon-fibre Package ($9500), AMG Night Package ($2500), Luxury Rear Package ($5300), and Warmth Comfort Package ($1300).
 
Options for the GT 63 S 4Matic+ include the AMG Exterior Carbon-fibre Package ($9500), AMG Night Package ($1500), Luxury Rear Package ($4600), Warmth Comfort Package ($1300), AMG Aerodynamics Package ($7300), and the AMG Carbon Package II ($11,600).
 
Buyers of the GT 63 S can also opt for the Edition 1 Package ($5900) which adds the AMG Aerodynamics Package, unique 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels in matte black with a high-sheen finish, AMG sports stripes, heated and ventilated front seats, exclusive grey/black Nappa leather with seatbelts in yellow, two individual rear seats, and AMG matte carbon-fibre trim.
 
Both variants of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door are scheduled to arrive in Australia from mid-2019.
