Mitsubishi Australia has announced the popular ASX range has been rejigged for 2019, the new line-up now kicks off at $23,490 plus on-road costs.

For 2019 the ASX range has been simplified, there are now three trim levels including a new entry-level ES variant.

All models are powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that develops 110kW of power and 197Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual or CVT that drive the front wheels, meaning the diesel engine is gone along with the option of all-wheel drive.

The new ES model is well equipped for an opener, 18-inch alloys, daytime running lamps, rear-view camera, DAB and Smartphone Link Display Audio which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all standard.

A CVT automatic ($2000) is available and allows buyers to option the Advanced Driver Assist Systems pack ($1500) which adds autonomous emergency braking (forward collision mitigation using Mitsubishi’s terminology), lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert and reversing sensors.

The ADAS pack also includes some additional luxury features in the form of rain sensing wipers, dusk sensing headlamps, auto-dimming mirror, door mirrors with indicator lamp and front fog lamps.

Stepping up to the mid-range LS adds faux leather and microsuede seat trim, keyless entry and push-button start, climate control, chrome highlights, privacy glass, front fog lamps and two-tone 18-inch alloy wheel. LS variants get forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning as standard.

Taking the place of the XLS at the top of the range is the Exceed which adds leather trim, a powered driver’s seat, front seat heating, six-speaker audio system, LED ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, chrome exhaust tip, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
