The next generation 2019 Suzuki Vitara has officially gone on sale in Australia priced from $22,490 plus on-road costs.

Three variants are now available – Vitara, Vitara Turbo and Vitara Turbo AllGrip – which feature a range of new safety and interior upgrades.

Engine options remain unchanged with the Vitara featuring a 1.6-litre petrol engine capable of producing 88kW/156Nm with torque sent exclusively to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or six-speed paddle-shifter automatic transmission.

The Vitara Turbo and Vitara Turbo AllGrip feature a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine which develops 103kW/220Nm mated with a six-speed automatic transmission with either front or AWD. It’s worth noting, Turbo models also require 95 RON premium petrol.

Inside is where the Vitara receives the most changes, there’s now a front sliding armrest, a soft-touch dash and an improved 4.2-inch colour LCD in the instrument cluster.

Turbo variants also benefit from seats covered with premium suede and embossed with geometric patterns. The top-of-the-line AllGrip also gets a panoramic sunroof as standard.

Externally new two-tone colour options are available with the full spectrum including Cool White, Silky Silver Metallic, Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic, Bright Red with Cosmic Black Roof, Atlantis Turquoise Pearl Metallic with Cosmic Black Roof, Savannah Ivory with Cosmic Black Roof, Galactic Grey Metallic with Cosmic Black Roof and Solar Yellow with Cosmic Black Roof.

Metallic colours attract a $500 premium with two-tone paint an extra $1250.

A range of safety upgrades have also been included with turbo models gaining autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, weaving alert, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Unfortunately, these features are not available on the entry models, even as options.

The new Vitara will be backed by Suzuki’s five-year capped-price servicing and warranty program with roadside assist included for the first time.

The 2019 Suzuki Vitara Series II does get a slight price increase between $500 and $1000 depending on the grade.
