To mark the 110th anniversary of Alfa Romeo details of the new 2020 Giulia GTA and GTAm limited editions have been announced.

Based on the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the new Giulia GTA is a four-door sedan version whilst the GTAm (with the ‘m’ standing for Modificata) takes on a racing feel with its two-seater configuration approved for on-road use.

Attention has been given to the aerodynamics and handling of the new GTA. Alfa Romeo says increased downforce is achieved through the side skirts, a specific rear spoiler and an active front splitter.

A new Akrapovic titanium centre exhaust system, a carbon-fibre rear diffuser and 20-inch centre-lock wheels are also part of the package.

Up to 50mm wider front and rear wheel tracks, and new springs, shock absorbers and bushings for the suspension are attributed to improved handling.

Weight savings have been achieved through a carbon-fibre drive shaft, bonnet, roof, front bumper, front wheel arches and rear wheel arch inserts.

In the Giulia GTAm, the aerodynamic features have been tweaked with a larger front splitter and a real carbon rear wing.

Internally, the Giulia GTA gets Alcantara trim on the dashboard, door panels, glove compartment, side pillars and the centre of the seats. There are also new matte carbon trim inserts.

GTAm versions feature space to hold helmets and a fire extinguisher in place of the rear bench, a roll bar, no door cards, unique sports seats with six-point Sabelt safety belts and a belt in place of a traditional door handle.

Power in the GTA and GTAm is derived from a 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engine which offers 402kW. The torque figure is yet to be confirmed, though the Quadrifoglio delivers 600Nm. With the aid of a dedicated launch system the GTAm clocks a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.6 seconds.

In total only 500 units will be available which will all be numbered and certified. Advance bookings are now available and will only close after the last vehicle is reserved.

Owners will also receive a personalised experience package kit, which includes a Bell helmet in special GTA livery, a full racing set by Alpinestars (race suit, gloves and shoes) and a personalised Goodwool car cover.
