Alpine has revealed a new flagship A110S variant which features an increase in power, a more “focused” chassis setup and new design elements.

In A110S guise, the mid-engined sports car uses the same 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the wider range adjusted to produce an additional 30kW of power. It’s now good for 215kW of power at 6400rpm and 320Nm of torque between 2000 and 6400rpm.

A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

According to Alpine, the S is 0.1s quicker than the regular A110 taking 4.4 seconds to sprint from 0-100km/h on its way to a top speed of 260km/h.

Underneath, the suspension has been lowered by 4mm, the dampers have been recalibrated, the coil springs are 50 per cent stiffer and the hollow anti-roll bars are twice as rigid.

The 18-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in mixed Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres measuring 215/40 Miche up front and 245/40 at the rear.

Style-wise, A110S variants are differentiated by a dark finish on the alloy wheels, a carbon-fibre flag on the rearmost pillars, black Alpine script across the rear and orange brake calipers.

On the inside, orange stitching replaces the signature blue found in other versions of the A110, while the seats, roof lining, sun visors and door panels are all covered in Dinamica microfiber. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather and Dinamica with an orange 12 o’clock marker and stitching to match.

Standard equipment also includes a Focal audio system, Alpine Telemetrics and front and rear parking sensors.

In terms of options, buyers can add a carbon-fibre roof in a gloss finish which saves 1.9kg, lightweight Fuchs forged alloy wheels and a carbon-fibre finish for the Sabelt seats. There’s also a Gris Tonnerre matte paint that’s exclusive to the A110S.

Alpine’s Australian operation is yet to confirm whether or not the A110S will be available Down Under.
