The all-new 2020 Hyundai Veloster has been revealed with the second-generation of the 2+1 door sports coupe starting at $29,490 plus on-road costs.

Hyundai will offer the car in three trim levels: Veloster, Veloster Turbo and Veloster Turbo Premium.

From the outside, the new Veloster takes on a low and wide stance with a redesigned grille, sculpted wheel arches and a new rear diffuser.

All Veloster variants get a local suspension tune, torque vectoring, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning lane-keeping assist, LED daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Base variants are powered by a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 110kW and 180Nm, it’s mated with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Moving to the Veloster Turbo (from $35,490 plus on-roads) adds keyless entry with push-button start, a larger 8.0-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation and DAB+ digital radio, a 4.2-inch driver information display, digital performance gauges, 18-inch gloss black wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, an upgraded front grille and rear spoiler, a body kit, LED headlights (low beam) and LED tail-lights.

The safety suite gets a boost with the addition of blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, high-beam assist and an upgraded AEB system that includes interurban functionality and pedestrian detection.

The top-spec Veloster Turbo Premium (from $38,990 plus on-roads) brings leather seat trim, a powered driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers, a full-width glass sunroof and a head-up display. There is also the option of a two-tone roof pack.

Power in the Turbo and Turbo Premium variants comes from a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine developing 150kW and 265Nm (275Nm with overboost). Drive is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
