Specs and pricing have been announced for the all-new 2020 Kia Seltos ahead of the compact SUV hitting showrooms on October 25.
 
Entering a competitive market space, Kia is aiming to attract buyers to the Seltos courtesy of its new design, along with an extensive list of tech and safety kit.
 
Slotting in under the mid-sized Sportage, the Seltos measures in at 4370mm long, 1800mm wide and 1615mm high with a 2630mm wheelbase.
 
Exterior styling highlights include a wider take on the signature tiger nose grille with a new diamond-pattern surface and rear bumper with a metallic muffler effect. There’s a choice of seven exterior colours with the option of a black or white contrasting roof depending on the grade.
 
At launch, four grades - S, Sport, Sport + and GT Line - will be available locally. Along with two engine options.
 
S, Sport and Sport+ front-wheel drive variants will draw power from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder MPI Atkinson cycle petrol engine which offers 110kW and 180Nm mated with a CVT.
  
Sport+ and GT Line all-wheel drive variants will be powered by the familiar 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol producing 130kW and 265Nm, it’s paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
 
Priced from $25,990 drive-away, the Seltos S gets autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, cruise control, driver attention alert, halogen DRLs, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, 16-inch steel wheels, and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
 
An optional safety pack can be optioned on the S for $1000 which adds cyclist detection to the AEB, adaptive cruise control, driver attention alert, electronic parking brake, electric folding mirrors, auto up and down driver’s window and 15-inch rear disc brakes.
 
Moving to the Seltos Sport brings 17-inch alloy wheels with full-size spare, front fog lights, electric folding mirrors, solar windows, climate control air conditioning, automatic window defogger and an auto up and down driver’s window as standard.
Sport models also get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen which includes satellite navigation with SUNA traffic and 10-year MapCare updates.
 
The optional safety pack ($1000) on the Sport upgrades the AEB and adds advanced smart cruise control, driver attention alert+, electronic parking brake and 15-inch rear disc brakes.
 
Stepping up to the Sport+ nets cloth and artificial leather seats, AEB with cyclist detection, driver attention alert+, advanced smart cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, smart key with push-button start, remote start, electronic parking brake, heated side mirrors, LED interior lights, electrochromic rear-view mirror, front parking sensors, luggage screen and rear disc brakes.
 
The range-topping GT Line gets a sunroof (not available with two-tone paint), 18-inch alloy wheels, interior sound mood lighting, an eight-speaker BOSE premium sound system, fast wireless phone charger, a 7.0-inch driver information display in the instrument cluster, a head-up display, premium artificial leather seat trim, powered driver and front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, LED headlights and fog lights, LED daylight running lights, rain-sensing wipers, lane following assist, safe exit alert and aeroblade wipers.
 
The new 2020 Kia Seltos goes on sale nationwide from October 25 priced from $25,990 drive-away.
