The new CLA range has expanded with Mercedes-Benz confirming local specs and pricing for the CLA250 4Matic and the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 4Matic.

The entry-level CLA200 is already available with the new CLA250 4Matic and AMG CLA35 4Matic arriving in early 2020, followed by the AMG CLA45 S.

Priced from $68,800 plus on-roads, over the base-model, the CLA250 gets a panoramic electric glass sunroof, the Night Package which includes tinted privacy glass and gloss-black exterior trim, and the Mercedes me Connect system which enables smartphone-controlled features including remote engine start.

Further equipment highlights include keyless entry and start, automatic climate control, sports seats trimmed in artico/dinamica upholstery, the MBUX multimedia system with two customisable 10.25-inch digital screens, DAB+ digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, kick-activated bootlid opening and 18-inch AMG alloy wheels.

Active parking assist, a rear-view camera, automatic headlights with adaptive high-beam assist, rain-sensing wipers, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot assist with exit warning assistant, lane-keeping assist and traffic sign recognition are also included as standard.

Powering the CLA250 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine offering 165kW and 350Nm, mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends drive to the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

Moving to the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 (priced from $83,400 plus on-roads) brings an AMG performance steering, two colour-LCD controllers, two-tone Lugano leather front seats with electric adjustment and seat heating, energizing comfort control and 19-inch AMG alloy wheels.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine developing 225kW of power and 400Nm of torque. A seven-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission sends power to the 4Matic all-wheel drive system that’s been calibrated by AMG.

Mercedes-AMG claims the 0-100km/h sprint takes 4.7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.

Also standard is an AMG exhaust system with an automatically controlled exhaust flap, AMG high-performance brakes featuring four-piston callipers on the front axle and an AMG-specific chassis.

Australian-delivered examples will also be fitted with the AMG ride control adaptive damping system as standard.

Both the CLA250 and AMG CLA35 are expected to arrive in showrooms during the first quarter of 2020, followed by the AMG CLA45 S.
