MG Australia has confirmed its new fully electric ZS EV will be priced from $46,990 drive-away.

Of course there is a catch, at this stage the special launch pricing is limited to the first 100 orders.

The ZS EV is powered by a 44.5kWh water-cooled lithium-ion battery pack that drives a 105kW/353Nm electric motor. According to the WLTP cycle, a full charge offers up to 262km of driving range.

With a 7kW home charger, the battery can be replenished in approximately seven hours, while a 50kW fast charger can reach 80 per cent capacity in 40 minutes.

Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, a six-speaker audio system and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

MG is backing the ZS EV with a seven-year/160,000km warranty that includes the battery pack.

The ZS EV will be a direct rival to the Kona Electric, however, the Hyundai is considerably more expensive but it offers an additional 187km of driving range.

In terms of price and range, the MG will be competing against the Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Ioniq Electric.

The order book for the ZS EV is open now.
