Skoda Australia has confirmed local pricing for the Kodiaq RS, the brand’s flagship SUV will be available later this year priced from $65,990 plus on-road costs.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel developing 176kW of power and 500Nm of torque. Skoda points out this is the most powerful diesel engine ever fitted to one of its cars.

A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to an on-demand all-wheel drive system. According to Skoda, the Kodiaq RS can sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.0 seconds.

RS variants are distinguished by a bespoke front bumper, 20-inch 'Xtreme' alloy wheels, red brake callipers, and a grille, wing mirrors and roof rails finished in black.

Adaptive LED headlights, privacy glass, dual tailpipes with chrome finishers, an electric tailgate and Adaptive Chassis Control are also standard.

The cabin is decked out with sports seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara with RS logos, electronically-adjustable front seats with memory function, front and rear seat heating, an RS-specific digital instrument cluster, a multifunction sports steering wheel with shift paddles, wireless smartphone charging, three-zone climate control and a 9.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with satellite navigation, digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Skoda is also using the Kodiaq RS to debut its Dynamic Sound Boost feature which is a glorified term for artificial sound enhancer.

Standard safety tech includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with Traffic Jam Assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, a 360-degree surround camera system and nine airbags.

Being a range-topper, the options list makes for very light reading, buyers only need to consider metallic paint ($770), side steps ($1300) and a panoramic sunroof ($1900).
