Local pricing has been announced for the 2020 Volkswagen Amarok V6 manual which starts from $49,590 plus on-road costs.

Originally detailed last August, power comes from the familiar 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine tuned to produce 165kW (180kW on over boost) and 500Nm.

Badged as the Amarok TDI500 Core, the six-speed manual with a low-range transfer case sends power to all corners through a selectable four-wheel drive system, instead of the permanent set-up in automatic models. There’s also a mechanical rear-axle differential lock fitted as standard.

Buyers keen to tow should note the manual has a 3000kg braked towing capacity, down from 3500kg.

Standard kit includes four-wheel disc brakes, 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, daytime running lights, cloth seat trim, a vinyl floor, a rear-view camera and a 6.4-inch infotainment touchscreen Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Volkswagen will also offer the Core manual with an Enduro pack as a no-cost option which adds a black sports bar, front bonnet protector and black ‘Enduro’ side decals. The brand claims it represents $1200 of additional value.
