Details of the flagship 2021 Lexus LS sedan have been released ahead of the January 20 on-sale date.

 

Design-wise, the new LS features a new grille, front bumper, tail-light accents and new high-grade LED headlights featuring advanced BladeScan adaptive high-beam technology.

 

Sports Luxury grades also get a "hollow chamber" alloy wheel design and run-flat tyres.

 

Internally, the LS features a new widescreen 12.3-inch touch-display and 23-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system. There is also new multi-layered urethane seat cushioning for added comfort.

 

An increase of safety features sees a digital rear-view mirror, as well as intersection turning assist added. F Sport variants also gain active steering assist, speed reduction on curves with the Lane Tracing Assist system, front cross-traffic alert, and a radar that can detect vehicles approaching diagonally in front of the vehicle.

 

A new silver-hued exterior paint finish will also be available across the range dubbed Lustre Shadow which incorporates aluminium flakes in what the company describes as “a smooth mirror-like finish”.

 

The 264kW 3.5-litre normally aspirated V6 multi-stage hybrid system of the LS500h has also been tweaked by increasing the level of assistance from the high-voltage lithium-ion battery to the electric motor. This also makes for quieter driving.

 

The 310kW 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine in the LS500 also gets a new lip design on the upper surface of the pistons to reduce noise when the engine is cold.

 

For a smoother ride, the Adaptive Variable Suspension employs a revised linear solenoid and enlarged flow path inside the control valve.
