Specs and pricing have been announced for the 2021 Mazda BT-50 Thunder, the brand’s new flagship ute.
 
Sitting above the GT variant, the Mazda BT-50 Thunder starts from $65,990 plus on-road costs for the manual and $68,990 plus on-roads for the automatic.
 
The Thunder is differentiated by a single-hoop steel bull bar, a new dual-row LED light bar, 18-inch alloy wheels, fender flares, side steps, a sports bar, a powered tonneau cover and unique decals on the tub.

Power comes from the same 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine found across the range, it produces 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque. It’s mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
 
The BT-50 Thunder will be available in April.
