Australian specs and pricing have been confirmed for the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series ahead of a local arrival in the second quarter of 2021.

Priced from a whopping $796,900 plus on-road costs, only 28 examples will be sold in Australia, all of which are already allocated to customers.

Power comes from an upgraded version of the brand’s 4.0-litre  twin-turbo unit featuring a flat-plane crankshaft. It’s tuned to produce 537kW of power at 6700-6900rpm and 800Nm of torque at 2000-6000rpm.

For context, outputs are up 107kW and 100Nm when compared to the GT R which produces 430kW and 700Nm.

Mercedes-AMG says the Black Series completes the 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds and can race to 200km/h in under nine seconds. The top speed is 325 km/h.

Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a modified seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

There’s plenty of carbon-fibre with the lightweight material used for the shear panels in the front section and underbody, the drive shaft, coiled transmission mount, roof, tailgate, bonnet, rear wing and the rear-axle anti-roll bar.

Standard kit includes AMG coil-over suspension with AMG ride control, adaptive adjustable damping, manually adjustable camber and anti-roll bars on the front and rear axle, AMG ceramic high-performance brakes with black callipers, and a new twin-pipe exhaust system made of thin-walled stainless steel.

On the inside, buyers get AMG carbon-fibre bucket seats trimmed in nappa leather and Dinamica microfiber with a black with orange contrasting topstitching, matt black carbon-fibre trim, the AMG Interior Night Package and an AMG steering wheel wrapped in Dinamica.

Australia-bound models will be fitted with the Track Package as standard, which includes a lightweight bolted titanium-tube cage for rollover protection and four-point seatbelts for the driver and passenger.
