Suzuki has announced the popular Jimny 4x4 range will expand to include the Jimny Lite.

Update 30/6/21: Suzuki has confirmed the Jimny Lite will be priced from $26,990 plus on-road costs

Due to launch locally in August 2021, the Jimny Lite will be distinguished by black 15-inch steel wheels, plastic textured side mirror covers and Halogen projector headlights.

On the inside, the infotainment system has been replaced with an in-dash radio/CD player featuring Bluetooth connectivity.

Suzuki is yet to confirm the powertrain details, however, it’s likely the Jimny Lite will use the same 75kW/130Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine from the standard Jimny.

The brand has confirmed, the Lite will be exclusively offered with a five-speed manual gearbox, the optional four-speed auto will not be available.

In a statement, Michael Pachota – General Manager, Automotive said "We're giving people what they want – more Jimny's! With demand continuously increasing for this model we are so pleased to be able to add another variant in the line-up and continue to grow our Jimny community with this incremental supply opportunity."

"We will also maintain the fair allocation process based on customer orders with a queue system as we have done with the current Jimny in 2021, making sure the next order in the queue gets the next car to hit Australian soil, every time"

Pricing for the Jimny Lite will be announced in August 2021 when the car is scheduled to start arriving in showrooms.
